Hi Midweek Meander fans. This month we have a new guest host, Tony Murphy.
Tony has kindly put together a run for those who would like to participate. This month it even includes a small challenge. See below for details and if you have any question please contact Tony directly or if you don't have his details you can shoot me an email and I will pass it onto him. Unfortunately, I won't be joining the group this month, I'm off to S.A. for a gravel rally.
This time we are going out of the city.
We will go to The Lakes BP Roadhouse, cnr Great Eastern Highway and Great Southern Highway.
It works out to be about 43 km from Perth CBD.
Initially we will meet at
Pasta in the Valley
2931 W Swan Rd
Caversham WA 6055
for morning tea around 10am ish and go on from there since it is almost on the way - at least in the same direction.
This trip includes
- A hill-climb up Greenmount Hill on Great Eastern Highway
- One can open up the throttle a bit (110 km/hr) after Sawyers Valley until reaching the roadhouse about 12 km later. Dual carriageway all the way.
- Brakes or engine workout on the way down the hill. Last time I did it down the hill on engine only.
The Lakes BP Roadhouse has been modernised and is also a truck stop. There will be plenty of parking space and plenty of fresh air.
Lunch at the roadhouse would be simple fare, but has the WIld Bean cafe for hot food and barista coffee.
Has tables to sit indoor and outdoor.
There will also be a small competition on the way called "Spot the road sign"
Five special road signs will be selected from the road between Glen Forrest and Sawyers Valley and the hints sheet will be given at morning tea. I can't remember anything past 5 things so that is the limit this time. Still agonising over the prize for the eagle-eye driver.
