WA Z Register

The WA Z Register is affiliated with Motorsport Australia.  Many members regularly participate in club level motorsport events.

Club members participate in sprints, hillclimbs, regularity and Targa events.  The Albany and Northam Round the Houses are well supported where there is usually a strong representation of Club members in their Zs.  As well as supporting club level motorsport at Wanneroo Raceway and Collie Motorplex many West Australian Zs have competed at the Phillip Island Classic, Challenge Bathurst and at the Datsun Nationals motorsport events.

The are several member teams involved in Targa events and rallying.

Test and Tune, and driver training days are conducted and popular with members.

Z Register Competition Events 2025

Z Register members compete in many and varied competition events.  S30 Zs and modern Zs are admired and competitive competition vehicles at WA motorsport events and the Datsun marque generally is well respected.

Local Zeds are regularly found at WA race tracks, Targa rally events and selected interstate events such as Challenge Bathurst. Given the number and variety of motor sport events that Register members enter, for 2025 no set list of events will be part of the Club Championship.  Rather than performance in the predetermined list of events for the Club motorsport championship for 2025, the member or members who best represent the Z Marque in motorsport for 2025 will become the Z Register Motorsport Champion.  The Register Committee will receive a motorsport report on events and member participation as a regular agenda item at its meetings and they will then be able to determine which member has best represented the Marque at the Register’s final meeting for 2025.

Events suitable for a good condition Z to enter.

Sprint Days, a number of WA clubs (HSV, Porsche, Triumph) welcome members to sprint events at Wanneroo Raceway or the Collie Motorplex.  Competitors get track time in their cars in a very safe controlled environment.  Essentially there are typically only 6 to 8 cars on the track at any one time, spaced well apart, it is up to individual drivers to set the pace and they are racing the clock and not each other.

Whoop Ass Wednesday at Perth Motorplex welcomes JDM cars on 26 March 2025.

The VSCC typically runs a variety of events though out the year.  Many members compete in the VSCC events; however, you must join the VSCCWA to enter. These events provide a great opportunity as a destination for a Z Register run with great classic competition and the likelihood of being able to support a competing Z on the track.  VSCC events include

  • ·         The Northam Flying Fifty  traditionally held in April each year.
  • ·         The Albany Classic is traditionally held over the June long weekend and includes the 'round the houses' re-enactment on Sunday.
  • ·         The Vintage Stampede is typically held on the last weekend in November and provides the opportunity to compete on a full race circuit at Barbagallo Raceway in historic or modern vehicles.

Advice on date, time and location of forthcoming events will be included in Competition Reports at Register meetings and attached to Register minutes when available.

Other Events that Register members often attend or enter.

  • ·         Shannons Rally Sprint Series 2025: Jan 16, Feb 6, 2-3 March (Albany), 13 March, 10 April, 8 May
